Bursary and Sunway

So, after I got the KPM Bursary, the only college I will go was Sunway College Johor Bahru (Jb). Sunway Jb offers A-Level for 18 months only. I didn't consider colleges outside of Jb -- KL as the living costs is high. Living costs are as in the food and clothes. Basically, my mind was set to Sunway Jb and to US. So, after SPM, I studied ACT and TOEFL as these two are the admission tests for US universities.

At first, I was in dilemma whether to choose SAT or ACT and IELTS or TOEFL. In the end, I chose ACT and TOEFL for few reasons. I will explain this in a separate post (here). But, I focused on ACT first instead of TOEFL as I thought TOEFL could be trained later when I enter college.

Sunway Jb is the only college in Jb that is entitled for KPM Bursary. For KPM Bursary students, we only have to pay RM700 for deposits and RM300 for accommodation fees. In addition, if we want to add the extra 4th subject for A-Level, Sunway will pay the tuition fees for us and we just have to pay RM250 each semester for the assessment fees. (P.S: KPM Bursary doesn't cover the 4th subject) Sunway Jb also sponsors RM1000 book vouchers which you can buy stationary, books and calculator from the book store in Sunway Jb.

I went a few times to Sunway Jb to understand clearer about their course, environment, facilities, hostel and co-curriculum. Well, Sunway Jb's achievement seems good, but the environment there doesn't make me feel like I'm going to college (The design is not school-like design). The hostel is nice: twin sharing room with air-con, fan, a wardrobe, a bed and a study desk. We will stay in an apartment with 4 twin sharing room, 1 kitchen (without stove) and living room with TV.

There is a special group hostel check-in for KPM Bursary students on 1 July which will be followed by a group briefing later for all new residences. Orientation starts on 2 July and ends on 3 July; classes commence on 6 July.

Subject choices in Sunway Jb:
1) Pre-Medicine: Biology + Chemistry + Maths + Economics/Physics
2) Pre-Engineering: Physics + Chemistry + Maths + Accounting/Biology
3) Pre-Business: Economics + Accounting + Maths + Law

Life after SPM

First time writing my own blog, jotting down my activities and recording my life.

After SPM, I went for driving, learnt a little bit of computer, studying ACT and that's it. Got my driving license in February and started to drive around, of course, with my parents accompany.

2nd of March, a day before SPM results were released, I found out Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) Bursary. Quite late to know about this scholarship, but nah never mind. I didn't expect myself to get 9A+ and above as I was not confident about my Malay, English, Moral and Accounts. The questions last year are quite hard, thinking skills blah blah blah, for me though. So, for that whole night, I was praying for getting straight A+, if not at least 9A+...

So, on 3rd of March! I went to school early and chit chat with my friends, calming down too haha. Around 9.30am or later, my friends and I went around the schools, searching for teachers, hoping they leak some information. At last, my class teacher told me I got 9A+ and something else (couldn't heard that 1A- already, too excited lol).

And so, I was secured the KPM Bursary! I could go to colleges for free~ But I also applied for a few scholarships as I hoped that I can study overseas, specifically business finance in US! What I applied for was: Bank Negara, Maybank, Yayasan Khazanah and Petronas. Well, don't ask me how about other scholarships, because it just happen that I didn't apply for it.
